Sisters Image Researchers

SISTERS Image Research & Art Production is Hierophant Publishing’s most popular service. SISTERS is a team of independent photo researchers, designers, and artists providing complete art services for books. Some of the topics we have researched include American history, dinosaurs, NASCAR, diseases, psychological disorders, legal & illegal drugs, authors, dance, geology, geography, Native American issues, international cultures, and social sciences.

Our photo research team members have expertise in science, biology, environmental issues, art, English literature, and a host of other topics. We also provide training for companies and individuals who want to learn the basics of photo research and project management for books, journals, and other publications.

Our Photo Researchers:

  • Work from manuscripts or from a list of requests.
  • Search public domain and commercial image archives, university and public libraries, historical and professional society collections, photographers’ portfolios, museum collections, and we contact private collectors.
  • Post image choices on SISTERS’ secure ftp site, at our clients’ ftp sites, or provide paper copies and images on disk – whatever delivery method is requested. We strive to present editors with a variety of choices from many sources and price ranges.
  • Negotiate licensing fees and secure permissions.
  • Create photo logs or work with our clients’ tracking systems, generate credits lists, and complete all paperwork associated with image research.
  • Deliver selected high-res images via FTP or on disk.

  • Photo detectives (from left) Amutha Arumugam, Pam Leader, Pat Holl, Carol Biggers, and Wendy Reluz celebrate the launch of SISTERS Image Research at the Gilbertsville Tea Room, in Gilbertsville, PA, September 2008.

    SISTERS also provides:

    • Project management services for books and journals
    • Photo editing services
    • Technical and medical illustrations, line art, charts, graphs and other graphics
    • Children’s book illustrations. Our illustrator, Ron Chironna creates art for our children’s imprint Hat Head Books. Click on Ron’s name to view his fabulous portfolio which includes pictures for Galloping Gertrude, Away We Go! and other Hat Head Books currently in production.
    • Our US-India hybrid work model allows us to maintain the SISTERS team in the US for research and customer service, along with the ability to ramp up our India teams for high volume jobs and other technical services. We build and train teams as needed to work to your specifications on a per project basis.
